Target Audience

This one day, intensive course is designed for anyone who must document any technical product, process, procedure or philosophy. The course is suitable for Project Managers, Engineers, Technicians, Technical Communicators, Technical Managers, Researchers, etc.

The course can be customised for use in specific environments with examples drawn directly from company documentation and past experiences. Customisation takes some time and we will require prior notice of this requirement. There are additional costs involved dependent on the quantity of customisation required.

Delegates must have completed the Introduction to Technical Communication course before attending this course.


The short course is presented in a classroom environment.

A maximum of twenty students are accommodated.

Lecture notes are provided.


Delegates will be equipped to write effective reports that deal with the issues at hand in concise and efficient ways.

Delegates who complete this course will derive benefit from our one day course on Technical Presentation skills. This course equips the learner with skills to design, build and present a World Class presentation to capture an audience and communicate your report contents with confidence, clarity and impact.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this module learners will be able to:

  • Write a range of technical reports that are concise and accurate

Completion requirements

  • This course is not aligned to any SAQA standards.
  • There is no final examination and no credits are awarded.
  • There is an assignment which delegates must complete.
  • This assignment is due two weeks after the course is completed.
  • Successful completion of the assignment will ensure that the delegate receives a Certificate of Merit indicating that they have successfully passed the assessment.
  • Delegates not submitting the assignment or not completing the assignment successfully will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
  • This certificate will not indicate whether the delegate has passed or failed.
