Target Audience

This short course focuses on the development of documents and writing of concise material that is easy to understand. The course is directed at anyone who needs to extend his writing skills to a more professional level, particularly those who write explanatory material for technical learners and customers.

Delegates must have completed the Introduction to Technical Communication course before attending this course.

This course is a pre-requisite for Enterprise Technical Communication.

Presentation

This one-day short course is presented in a classroom environment.

A maximum of twenty students are accommodated.

Lecture notes are provided.

Benefits

Delegates learn that technical communication depends on considered design of the documentation and that planning of documents is more than half of the job.

Completion requirements

  • This course is not aligned to any SAQA standards.
  • There is no final examination and no credits are awarded.
  • There is an assignment which delegates must complete.
  • This assignment is due two weeks after the course is completed.
  • Successful completion of the assignment will ensure that the delegate receives a Certificate of Merit indicating that they have successfully passed the assessment.
  • Delegates not submitting the assignment or not completing the assignment successfully will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
  • This certificate will not indicate whether the delegate has passed or failed.
